1. Does your website have no or the wrong Sitelinks in Google?

More and more websites get Sitelinks in Google's search results. What are they, how can they help your website and how can you influence which links Google will use for your Sitelinks? What can you do if Google displays the wrong links?

What are Sitelinks?

Sitelinks are additional links below the description and the URL of a web page in Google's search results:

What is the problem with Sitelinks?

Google automatically chooses the Sitelinks for your website. Unfortunately, Google's algorithms aren't perfect and sometimes Google assigns the wrong Sitelinks to a website.
Google doesn't reveal how Sitelinks are determined, they only say that "Sitelinks are meant to help users navigate your site."

What can you do if your website has no Sitelinks?

Sitelinks are only shown for some searches, usually company names or other brand related searches. If your website doesn't show Sitelinks when you search for your company name or domain name then Google might not be able to parse your web page links correctly.
a) Optimize your Flash pages
If you use a pure Flash site then it should be easy to get Sitelinks by adding a few search engine friendly navigation links to your web pages. These links should be standard text links that can easily be parsed by search engine spiders.
b) Use a clear navigation on your web pages
If you have very many links on your web pages then it can be difficult for Google to find the best links for the Sitelinks. Google usually uses navigation links for the Sitelinks.
If your website has a clear navigation, it will be easier to get Sitelinks for your website. Do not use too many navigation links and make it easy for web surfers and search engines to find out which pages of your website are the most important pages.
The better a web page is linked, the more likely it is that it will appear in the Sitelinks.

What can you do if your website has the wrong Sitelinks?

Sometimes, Google can display Sitelinks that go to dead pages or Sitelinks to web pages that you don't want your web surfers to see.
To remove these links, login to your Google webmaster tools account and click on Links > Sitelinks in the navigation. Then you can block Sitelinks that you don't want for your website.
Unfortunately, you can only block Sitelinks with Google's tools, you cannot request that Google should show Sitelinks for your website.

Sitelinks can make your website more attractive in Google's search results. However, they have nothing to do with the position that your website gets in Google. If you want to get high rankings on Google, you must make sure that your website has both optimized content and good inbound links.

Search and check the keywords that you use

After given the platform that will be used, the next step is to identify the keywords that you plan to use on your website.

An important aspect to locate keywords is to know what the OCI, or commercial intent of these keywords.

Here's an example from my days of selling radar detectors on RadarBusters.

The keyword "radar detectors" has a very low value of OCI in the sense that it is more of a market for defining keywords.When people type that word they are looking for general information on radar detectors.

However when someone types in the phrase "Escort Radar Detector 9500CI" are looking for a very specific model of radar detector, so the OCI is very high, is a term of purchase.

I'm sure you're tired of hearing this time, but it is one of the most important phrases in Internet Marketing.

Keyword optimization

Michael is a member of our with the search engine Academy and Michael program will analyse the theme of my keyword content compared to the top 100 sites already indexed in Google for my term as seed keyword.

After running SEO Scout and then a rewrite of my content using lightweight theme that suggests Michael program.

Analyze the competition

Is not only a good idea to know what is the OCI money or market defining keywords in your industry specific; it is also a good idea to do research on websites that are currently ranked atop based on these particular keywords.

You should know which sites are considered as sites of authority for a particular keyword and be able to identify their strengths and weaknesses.

Using resources that have already available in your back as strategy through its Web site to build links link?

Onsite SEO is a very important factor in building the reputation of your website and it is so often overlooked.

Also generate the content of your website and link the important keyword phrases in your content to other relevant pages on their website.

1. How Google's latest algorithm changes affect your website

Google improves its ranking algorithm on an ongoing basis. During the last weeks, Google changed three things on the result pages that are visible to all Google users.

The changes are an improvement for searchers but they might be bad for your website.

1. Google has increased the snippet length. Less visitors for you?

Google now shows an extended snippet for queries that consist of three or more keywords. The idea behind this change is that these multi-word queries are very targeted and complex. The usual short snippet might not contain enough information.
What does this change mean for your website?
The longer snippet contains much more information. As Google tries to provide the user with the most relevant information in the snippet, the snippet might already contain the answer to the user's query. The longer snippets might result in the following:
Fewer users might click through to your website because they get the answer to their question in the search results. Users might begin to use more multiple-word queries to get more detailed search result snippets. As the longer snippets need more space, the longer snippets move another result page below the fold and web surfers will see fewer results at first glance. That increases the importance of very high rankings.
It seems that Google ignores the meta description tag for the snippets. That means that you must include a call to action in your web page titles.

2. Google now shows more related searches at the bottom of the results

When you search for a keyword, Google will display related searches at the bottom (and sometimes at the top) of the search results.
For example, if you search for the keyword "principles of physics", Google will suggest "angular momentum," "special relativity," "big bang" and "quantum mechanic" as related terms that could help you find what you need.
What does this change mean for your website?
It's important that you optimize the different pages of your website for different keywords. Do not concentrate on a single keyword but cover a wide range of keywords so that Googly will classify your website as relevant to the complete topic.
The more related keywords and pages can be found on your website, the better.

3. Google now shows local results based on IP addresses

Search Google for the keyword "pizza" and you'll see local results in the middle of the search results. These local results are delivered based on the IP address of the searcher. That means that you will get different results than people in another city.
What does this change mean for your website?
It's now easier to rank for competitive keywords for some local searches. While it's very difficult to get a high ranking for a very competitive keyword such as "lawyer" in the regular results, it's much easier to be listed for that keyword in the local results if you're living in a small town.
You should submit your website to Google Maps so that web surfers can find you in these local searches. You can submit your website to Google Maps with IBP's semi-automatic directory submitter.
If you run a local business, you should include your business name, your category and the name of your city in the title tag of your homepage.

If you want to get on top of Google's search results then your website must have optimized content and good inbound links. If you give Google what it wants then your website will get the best possible rankings.

What is PPC? Pay-Per-Click, or PPC, is often used by businesses to advertise on search engines. Advertisers can create an account to display ads on search results pages for keyphrases they wish to bid on. They can set up their accounts so that they only pay when a user actually clicks on an advertisement that links to the advertiser's website or landing page. The cost of a click varies greatly, from 5 cents to over $100. Advertisers will only pay the publisher up to a maximum PPC rate that is controlled through the campaign management portal. This allows businesses to advertise their company no matter what their budget. Many search engines and portals offer this kind of paid search advertising but the most popular are Google, Yahoo!, and MSN.

How can Businesses use it to gain immediate exposure to targeted traffic?

Advertising always helps promote the business. PPC expands your connections because it can reach all over the web. Using the right keyword for the ads can gain immediate exposure to your business and get your site to the top of the search results page. Google AdWords, Yahoo! Search Marketing, and Microsoft adCenter are the largest network operators that provide PPC. Advertisers place bids on the keywords they think are most often searched by the target audience. Once the potential visitor types in the keywords or phrase in the search engine, the advertiser’s ad may be displayed.
